A bound on consecutive clique numbers of graphs is established. This bound is evaluated and shown to often be much better than the bound of the Kruskal-Katona theorem. A bound on non-consecutive clique numbers is also proven.

A graph with degree sequence $\pi$ is a \emph{unigraph} if it is isomorphic to every graph that has degree sequence $\pi$. The class of unigraphs is not hereditary and in this paper we study the related hereditary class HCU, the hereditary…

We present a hereditary class of graphs of unbounded clique-width which is well-quasi-ordered by the induced subgraph relation. This result provides a negative answer to the question asked by Daligault, Rao and Thomass\'e in…

A graph has tree-width at most $k$ if it can be obtained from a set of graphs each with at most $k+1$ vertices by a sequence of clique sums. We refine this definition by, for each non-negative integer $\theta$, defining the…

Given two graphs $G$ and $H$, we say that $G$ contains $H$ as an induced minor if a graph isomorphic to $H$ can be obtained from $G$ by a sequence of vertex deletions and edge contractions. We study the complexity of Graph Isomorphism on…

Extending the idea from the recent paper by Carbonero, Hompe, Moore, and Spirkl, for every function $f\colon\mathbb{N}\to\mathbb{N}\cup\{\infty\}$ with $f(1)=1$ and $f(n)\geq\binom{3n+1}{3}$, we construct a hereditary class of graphs…

The class of all even-hole-free graphs has unbounded tree-width, as it contains all complete graphs. Recently, a class of (even-hole, $K_4$)-free graphs was constructed, that still has unbounded tree-width [Sintiari and Trotignon, 2019].…

We prove that the (divisorial) gonality of a finite connected graph is lower bounded by its treewidth. We show that equality holds for grid graphs and complete multipartite graphs. We prove that the treewidth lower bound also holds for…

For every $r \in \mathbb{N}$, let $\theta_r$ denote the graph with two vertices and $r$ parallel edges. The $\theta_r$-girth of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of edges of a subgraph of $G$ that can be contracted to $\theta_r$. This…

This paper continues a series of papers investigating the following question: which hereditary graph classes have bounded treewidth? We call a graph $t$-clean if it does not contain as an induced subgraph the complete graph $K_t$, the…

We show that planar graphs have bounded queue-number, thus proving a conjecture of Heath, Leighton and Rosenberg from 1992. The key to the proof is a new structural tool called layered partitions, and the result that every planar graph has…

In a reduction sequence of a graph, vertices are successively identified until the graph has one vertex. At each step, when identifying $u$ and $v$, each edge incident to exactly one of $u$ and $v$ is coloured red. Bonnet, Kim, Thomass\'e…

A class $\mathcal{G}$ of graphs is called hereditary if it is closed under taking induced subgraphs. We denote by $\mathcal{G}^\mathrm{apex}$ the class of graphs $G$ that contain a vertex $v$ such that $G-v$ is in $\mathcal{G}$. We prove…
