We study a family of exponential sums that arises in the study of the horocyclic flow on $\mathrm{GL}_n$. We prove an explicit version of general purity and find optimal bounds for these sums.
In this note we study Kloosterman sums twisted by a multiplicative characters modulo a prime power. We show, by an elementary calculation, that these sums become equidistributed on the real line with respect to a suitable measure.
We obtain statistical results on the possible distribution of all partial sums of a Kloosterman sum modulo a prime, by computing explicitly the support of the limiting random Fourier series of our earlier functional limit theorem for…
We consider the distribution of polygonal paths joining the partial sums of normalized Kloosterman sums modulo an increasingly high power p^n of a fixed odd prime p, a pure depth-aspect analogue of theorems of Kowalski-Sawin and…
This paper establishes power-saving bounds for Kloosterman sums associated with the long Weyl element for GL(n), as well as for another type of Weyl element of order 2. These bounds are obtained by establishing an explicit representation as…
In this paper power saving bounds for general Kloosterman sums for all Weyl elements for $\mathrm{GL}_n$ for $n>2$ are proven, improving the trivial bound by D\k{a}browski and Reeder. This is achieved by representing the sums in an explicit…
We consider the distribution of the polygonal paths joining partial sums of classical Kloosterman sums, as their parameter varies modulo a prime tending to infinity. Using independence of Kloosterman sheaves, we prove convergence in the…
We develop a new method for studying sums of Kloosterman sums related to the spectral exponential sum. As a corollary, we obtain a new proof of the estimate of Soundararajan and Young for the error term in the prime geodesic theorem.
We prove two estimates for averages of sums of Kloosterman fractions over primes. The first of these improves previous results of Fouvry-Shparlinski and Baker.
In this paper we give an essential treatment for estimating arbitrary integral power moments of Kloosterman sums over the residue class ring. For prime moduli we derive explicit estimates, and for prime-power moduli we prove concrete…
We obtain a nontrivial bound for cancellations between the Kloosterman sums modulo a large prime power with a prime argument running over very short interval, which in turn is based on a new estimate on bilinear sums of Kloosterman sums.…
We obtain a new estimate for Kloosterman sum with primes $p\leqslant X$ to composite modulo $q$, that is, for the exponential sum of the type \[ \sum\limits_{p\leqslant X,\;p\,\nmid q}\exp{\biggl(\frac{2\pi…
For $q$ prime, $X \geq 1$ and coprime $u,v \in \mathbb{N}$ we estimate the sums \begin{equation*} \sum_{\substack{p \leq X \substack p \equiv u \hspace{-0.25cm} \mod{v} p \text{ prime}}} \text{Kl}_2(p;q), \end{equation*} where…
We establish the exact structure of the cohomology associated to a certain matrix exponential sum investigated in prior work (arXiv:2109.00762) of the first and last author.
In the present paper, we generalize some of the results on Kloosterman sums proven in \cite{BG} for prime moduli to general moduli. This requires to establish the corresponding additive properties of the reciprocal set $$…
A formula of Kuznetsov allows one to interpret a smooth sum of Kloosterman sums as a sum over the spectrum of $GL(2)$ automorphic forms. In this paper, we construct a similar formula for the first hyper-Kloosterman sums using $GL(3)$…
We revisit a recent bound of I. Shparlinski and T. P. Zhang on bilinear forms with Kloosterman sums, and prove an extension for correlation sums of Kloosterman sums against Fourier coefficients of modular forms. We use these bounds to…
We prove a new mean value theorem on the distribution of primes in two simultaneous arithmetic progressions. Our approach builds on previous arguments of Bombieri, Fouvry, Friedlander, and Iwaniec appealing to spectral theory of Kloosterman…
We use some elementary arguments to obtain a new bound on bilinear sums with weighted Kloosterman sums which complements those recently obtained by E. Kowalski, P. Michel and W. Sawin (2020).
Problems of (i) precise (exact) bound for families of hyperelliptic curves over prime finite fields and (ii) equidistribution of angles of Kloosterman sums are discussed.
