We prove the statement in the title: if a (finite) unital admits all translations and contains no O'Nan configurations then the unital is classical, i.e., isomorphic to the Hermitian unital of the same order.

An isomorphism between two hermitian unitals is proved, and used to treat isomorphisms of classical groups that are related to the isomorphism between certain simple real Lie algebras of types A and D (and rank 3).

Every finite subunital of any generalized hermitian unital is itself a hermitian unital; the embedding is given by an embedding of quadratic field extensions. In particular, a generalized hermitian unital with a finite subunital is a…

We discuss a classical complexity of finite-dimensional unitary transformations, which can been seen as a computable approximation of classical descriptional complexity of a unitary transformation acting on a set of qubits.

A positive definite Hermitian lattice is said to be 2-universal if it represents all positive definite binary Hermitian lattices. We find all 2-universal ternary and quaternary Hermitian lattices over imaginary quadratic number fields.

Unitals can be obtained as closures of affine unitals via parallelisms. The isomorphism type of the closure depends on the chosen parallelism, which need not be unique. For affine $\operatorname{SL}(2,q)$-unitals, we introduce a class of…

A finite shift plane can be equivalently defined via abelian relative difference sets as well as planar functions. In this paper, we present a generic way to construct unitals in finite shift planes of odd orders $q^2$. We investigate…

We consider the classification, up to unitary equivalence, of commuting n-tuples of isometries. We pay special attention to the case when the product of the isometries is a shift of finite multiplicity, and we provide a complete…

We construct a model of the Hermitian unital of order 3 (obtained from the non-degenerate hermitian form in three variables over the field of order 9) inside the octonion algebra over the field of order 2. This construction is invariant…
