We define a new partial order on $SYT_n$, the set of all standard Young tableaux with $n$ cells, by combining the chain order with the notion of horizontal strips. We prove various desirable properties of this new order.

We derive combinatorial identities, involving the Bernoulli and Euler numbers, for the numbers of standard Young tableaux of certain skew shapes. This generalizes the classical formulas of D. Andre on the number of up-down permutations. The…

We suggest an approach for the enumeration of minimal permutations having d descents which uses skew Young tableaux. We succeed in finding a general expression for the number of such permutations in terms of (several) sums of determinants.…

Finite dimensional simple modules of quantum affine algebras of type A correspond to semistandard Young tableaux of rectangular shapes. In this paper, we classify all prime modules corresponding to 2-column semistandard Young tableaux, up…

Based on Sch\"utzenberger's evacuation and a modification of jeu de taquin, we give a bijective proof of an identity connecting the generating function of reverse semistandard Young tableaux with bounded entries with the generating function…

We study vectors formed by entries on the diagonal of standard Young tableaux of shifted shapes. Such vectors are in bijection with integer lattice points of certain integral polytopes, which are Minkowski sums of simplices. We also…

In this article, we consider a generalization of Young tableaux in which we allow some consecutive pairs of cells with decreasing labels. We show that this leads to a rich variety of combinatorial formulas, which suggest that these new…

This paper introduces new structural decompositions for almost symmetric numerical semigroups through the combinatorial lens of Young diagrams. To do that, we use the foundational correspondence between numerical sets and Young diagrams,…

The number of standard Young tableaux of a skew shape $\lambda/\mu$ can be computed as a sum over excited diagrams inside $\lambda$. Excited diagrams are in bijection with certain lozenge tilings, with flagged semistandard tableaux and also…

We consider two questions of Wilf related to Standard Young Tableaux. We provide a partial answer to one question, and that will lead us to a more general answer to the other question. Our answers are purely combinatorial.

Let T^* be a standard Young tableau of k cells. We show that the probability that a Young tableau of n cells contains T^* as a subtableau is, in the limit n -> \infty, equal to \nu(\pi(T^*))/k!, where \pi(T^*) is the shape (= Ferrers…

Lascoux and Sch\"utzenberger introduced a notion of key associated to any Young tableau. More recently Lascoux defined the key of an alternating sign matrix by recursively removing all -1's in such matrices. But alternating sign matrices…

The study of representations of affine Hecke algebras has led to a new notion of shapes and standard Young tableaux which works for the root system of any finite Coxeter group. This paper is completely independent of affine Hecke algebra…

The deck of a graph $G$ is given by the multiset of (unlabelled) subgraphs $\{G-v:v\in V(G)\}$. The subgraphs $G-v$ are referred to as the cards of $G$. Brown and Fenner recently showed that, for $n\geq29$, the number of edges of a graph…
