In this report, I discuss lattice Monte Carlo evidence of excitations of isolated static charges in q=2 Abelian Higgs theory. The localized excitations are excited states of the interacting fields surrounding the static charges.

A spectrum of localized excitations of isolated static fermions has been discovered in several different gauge Higgs theories. In lattice numerical simulations, we show that the charged elementary particles can have the spectrum of…

Static quark-antiquark states in QCD, at finite quark separation, have a spectrum of metastable states corresponding to string-like excitations of the gauge field. In this article I suggest that there may also exist an excitation spectrum…

We point out that in superconductors there may exist localized quantum excitations of the electric and condensate fields surrounding a static charge, which cannot be interpreted as simply the ground state of the screened charge plus some…

It is shown numerically, in a chiral U(1) gauge Higgs theory in which the left and right-handed fermion components have opposite U(1) charges, that the spectrum of gauge and Higgs fields surrounding a static fermion contains both a ground…

In the Abelian-Higgs model, or Ginzburg-Landau model of superconductivity, the existence of an infrared stable charged fixed point ensures that there is a parameter range where the superconducting phase transition is second order, as…

The static potential in the confinement ``phase'' of the SU(2) Higgs model is studied. In particular, the observation of the screening (called string breaking) of the static quarks by the dynamical light quarks leading to the formation of…

Real time excitations in the broken symmetry phase of the classical Abelian Higgs model are investigated numerically in the unitary gauge. Spectral equations of state of its constituent quasi-particles are extracted. Characteristic…

We consider a quenched SU(2)$\times$U(1) gauge Higgs theory on the lattice, coupled to a static vector-like fermion which, in this case, is in the same gauge group representation as the Higgs field. Physical (i.e. locally gauge invariant)…

A recent work (arXiv:1811.04930) proposed a SU(2) gauge theory for optimal doping criticality in the cuprate superconductors. The theory contains $N_h$ Higgs fields transforming under the adjoint representation of SU(2), with $N_h=1$ for…

Pure gauge theories are rather different from theories with pure scalar and fermionic matter, especially in terms of the nature of excitations. For example, in scalar and fermionic theories, one can create ultra-local excitations. For a…
