We study some topological properties of maximal ideal spaces of certain algebras of almost periodic functions. Our main result is that such spaces are contractible. We present certain corollaries of this result.

We call an Ising model tractable when it is possible to compute its partition function value (statistical inference) in polynomial time. The tractability also implies an ability to sample configurations of this model in polynomial time. The…

We investigate the degree of the polar transformations associated to a certain class of multi-valued homogeneous functions. In particular we prove that the degree of the pre-image of generic linear spaces by a polar transformation…

Let $f(\bfz,\bar\bfz)$ be a mixed strongly polar homogeneous polynomial of $3$ variables $\bfz=(z_1,z_2, z_3)$. It defines a Riemann surface $V:=\{[\bfz]\in \BP^{2}\,|\,f(\bfz,\bar\bfz)=0 \}$ in the complex projective space $\BP^{2}$. We…

Over a field of characteristic zero, we show that the forgetful functor from the homotopy category of commutative dg algebras to the homotopy category of dg associative algebras is faithful. In fact, the induced map of derived mapping…

By means of analytic methods the quasi-projectivity of the moduli space of algebraically polarized varieties with a not necessarily reduced complex structure is proven including the case of non-uniruled polarized varieties.

We show that the notions of homotopy epimorphism and homological epimorphism in the category of differential graded algebras are equivalent. As an application we obtain a characterization of acyclic maps of topological spaces in terms of…

''Positive geometries'' are a class of semi-algebraic domains which admit a unique ''canonical form'': a logarithmic form whose residues match the boundary structure of the domain. The study of such geometries is motivated by recent…
