We construct all Finsler metrics on the two-sphere for which geodesics are circles and show that any (reversible) path geometry on a two-dimensional manifold is locally the system of geodesics of a Finsler metric.

In 1973, Katok constructed a non-degenerate (also called bumpy) Finsler metric on $S^3$ with exactly four prime closed geodesics. And then Anosov conjectured that four should be the optimal lower bound of the number of prime closed…

We consider the geodesic flow of reversible Finsler metrics on the 2-sphere and the 2-torus, whose geodesic flow has vanishing topological entropy. Following a construction of A. Katok, we discuss examples of Finsler metrics on both…

We establish a framework, namely, nuclear bounded Fr\'{e}chet manifolds endowed with Riemann-Finsler structures to study geodesic curves on certain infinite dimensional manifolds such as the manifold of Riemannian metrics on a closed…

Given a Riemannian metric on the 2-sphere, sweep the 2-sphere out by a continuous one-parameter family of closed curves starting and ending at point curves. Pull the sweepout tight by, in a continuous way, pulling each curve as tight as…

Let $M=S^{2n+1}/ \Gamma$, $\Gamma$ is a finite group which acts freely and isometrically on the $(2n+1)$-sphere and therefore $M$ is diffeomorphic to a compact space form. In this paper, we first investigate Katok's famous example about…

In this paper we study the Finsler sphere $(S^n,F)$ with $n>1$, which has constant flag curvature $K\equiv 1$ and only finite prime closed geodesics. In this case, the connected isometry group $I_0(S^n,F)$ must be a torus which dimension…
