Recently, Cohen and Vandembroucq proved that the reduced topological complexity of the Klein bottle is 4. Simultaneously and independently, we announced a proof of the same result. Mistakes were found in our argument, which was quite…

We show that the (normalized) topological complexity of the Klein bottle is $4$. We also show that, for any $g\geq 2$, $TC(N_g)=4$. This completes the recent work by Dranishnikov on the topological complexity of non-orientable surfaces.

The geodesic complexity of a metric space X is the smallest k for which there is a partition of X x X into ENRs E_0,...,E_k on each of which there is a continuous choice of minimal geodesic sigma(x_0,x_1) from x_0 to x_1. We prove that the…

Topological complexity $\TC{B}$ of a space $B$ is introduced by M. Farber to measure how much complex the space is, which is first considered on a configuration space of a motion planning of a robot arm. We also consider a stronger version…

In this paper, we study upper bounds for the topological complexity of the total spaces of some classes of fibre bundles. We calculate a tight upper bound for the topological complexity of an $n$-dimensional Klein bottle. We also compute…

We prove a lower bound for the topological complexity, in the sense of Smale, of the problem of finding a flex point on a cubic plane curve. The key is to bound the Schwarz genus of a cover associated to this problem. We also show that our…

Topological complexity was first introduced in 2003 by Michael Farber as a homotopy invariant for a connected topological space X, denoted by TC(X). Although the invariant is defined in terms of elementary homotopy theory using well-known…

We introduce the higher topological complexity (TC_{n}) of a fibration in two ways: the higher homotopic distance and the Schwarz genus. Then we have some results on this notion related to TC, TC_{n} or cat of a topological space or a…

We use an alternative definition of topological complexity to show that the topological complexity of the mapping telescope of a sequence $X_1\rightarrow X_2\rightarrow X_3\rightarrow...$ is bounded above by $2max{TC(X_i); i=1,2,...}$.

In this paper, we examine how topological complexity, simplicial complexity, discrete topological complexity, and combinatorial complexity compare when applied to models of $S^1$. We prove that the topological complexity of non-minimal…

The topological (resp. geodesic) complexity of a topological (resp. metric) space is roughly the smallest number of continuous rules required to choose paths (resp. shortest paths) between any points of the space. We prove that the geodesic…
