In this paper, we study normality and metrizability of Wijsman hyperspaces. We show that every hereditarily normal Wijsman hyperspace is metrizable. This provides a partially answer to a problem of Di Maio and Meccariello in 1998.

In this paper we investigate hereditarily normal topological groups and their subspaces. We prove that every compact subspace of a hereditarily normal topological group is metrizable. To prove this statement we first show that a…

A topological space $X$ is called hereditarily supercompact if each closed subspace of X is supercompact. By a combined result of Bula, Nikiel, Tuncali, Tymchatyn, and Rudin, each monotonically normal compact Hausdorff space is hereditarily…

Given a compact smooth boundaryless manifold with dimension greater than one endowed with a locally positive non-atomic measure $\mu$, we prove that typical $\mu$-preserving homeomorphisms have upper metric mean dimension, with respect to…

We establish some geometrical properties of the space of idempotent probability measures. In particular, for a compact $X$ it is established that if the space $I_{3}(X)\backslash X$ is hereditary normally, then $X$ is metrizable; some…

We establish that if it is consistent that there is a supercompact cardinal, then it is consistent that every locally compact, hereditarily normal space which does not include a perfect pre-image of omega_1 is hereditarily paracompact.

We prove that the upper metric mean dimension of $C^0$-generic homeomorphisms, acting on a compact smooth boundaryless manifold with dimension greater than one, coincides with the dimension of the manifold. In the case of continuous…

It was recently shown that the harmonic measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the Hausdorff measure on a domain with an $n-1$ dimensional uniformly rectifiable boundary, in the presence of now well understood additional…

It is shown, under the assumption of Jensen's principle $\lozenge$, that if for a complex L with $[L] \geq [S^{4}]$ there exists a metrizable compactum whose extension dimension is L, then there exists a differentiable, countably compact,…

We characterize the situation of having many normal measures on a measurable cardinal. We show the plausibility of having many normal measures on each compact cardinal.

Manifolds have uses throughout and beyond Mathematics and it is not surprising that topologists have expended a huge effort in trying to understand them. In this article we are particularly interested in the question: `when is a manifold…

In this note we prove that a regular continuous open image of the Sorgenfrey line with an uncountable weight has a closed subspace that is homeomorphic to the Sorgenfrey line. As a corollary we deduce the theorem in the title.

Every regular polytope has the remarkable property that it inherits all symmetries of each of its facets. This property distinguishes a natural class of polytopes which are called hereditary. Regular polytopes are by definition hereditary,…
