In this paper we give a sufficient and necessary condition for two rooted trees with the same plucking polynomial. Furthermore, we give a criteria for a sequence of non-negative integers to be realized as a rooted tree.

We prove strict unimodality of the q-binomial coefficients \binom{n}{k}_q as polynomials in q. The proof is based on the combinatorics of certain Young tableaux and the semigroup property of Kronecker coefficients of S_n representations.

In 2013, Pak and Panova proved the strict unimodality property of $q$-binomial coefficients $\binom{\ell+m}{m}_q$ (as polynomials in $q$) based on the combinatorics of Young tableaux and the semigroup property of Kronecker coefficients.…

The plucking polynomial is an invariant of rooted trees with connections to knot theory. The polynomial was constructed in 2014 as a tool to analyze lattice crossings after taking the quotient by the Kauffman bracket skein relations. In…

We describe in this note a new invariant of rooted trees. We argue that the invariant is interesting on it own, and that it has connections to knot theory and homological algebra. However, the real reason that we propose this invariant to…

For an odd prime power $q$ satisfying $q\equiv 1\pmod 3$ we construct totally $2(q-1) $ permutation polyomials, all giving involutory permutations with exactly $ 1+ \frac{q-1}3$ fixed points. Among them $(q-1)$ polynomials are trinomials,…

Pak and Panova recently proved that the $q$-binomial coefficient ${m+n \choose m}_q$ is a strictly unimodal polynomial in $q$ for $m,n \geq 8$, via the representation theory of the symmetric group. We give a direct combinatorial proof of…

A polynomial is said to be unimodal if its coefficients are non-decreasing and then non-increasing. The domination polynomial of a graph $G$ is the generating function of the number of dominating sets of each cardinality in $G$. In…

Let $\mathcal{F}_n$ be the set of unitary polynomials of degree $n \ge 2$ that have their roots in $\mathbb{Z}^*$. We note $$ Q(x) := x^n+a_{1}x^{n-1}+\dots+a_{n}. $$ We show that any two fixed consecutive coefficients $(a_{j},a_{j+1})$ ($j…
