We study the structure of graphs that do not contain the wheel on 5 vertices W4 as an immersion, and show that these graphs can be constructed via 1, 2, and 3-edge-sums from subcubic graphs and graphs of bounded treewidth.

In this paper, we show that if a graph $G$ satisfies $c_{1}(G-X)+\frac{2}{3}c_{3}(G-X)\leq \frac{4}{3}|X|+\frac{1}{3}$ for all $X\subseteq V(G)$, then $G$ has a $\{P_{2},P_{5}\}$-factor, where $c_{i}(G-X)$ is the number of components $C$ of…

A $(c_1,c_2,...,c_k)$-coloring of $G$ is a mapping $\varphi:V(G)\mapsto\{1,2,...,k\}$ such that for every $i,1 \leq i \leq k$, $G[V_i]$ has maximum degree at most $c_i$, where $G[V_i]$ denotes the subgraph induced by the vertices colored…

In 1976, Steinberg conjectured that planar graphs without $4$-cycles and $5$-cycles are $3$-colorable. This conjecture attracted numerous researchers for about 40 years, until it was recently disproved by Cohen-Addad et al. (2017). However,…

A graph is $(\mathcal{I}, \mathcal{F})$-colorable if its vertex set can be partitioned into two subsets, one of which is an independent set, and the other induces a forest. In this paper, we prove that every planar graph without…

The splitting number of a graph $G=(V,E)$ is the minimum number of vertex splits required to turn $G$ into a planar graph, where a vertex split removes a vertex $v \in V$, introduces two new vertices $v_1, v_2$, and distributes the edges…

We determine, for all $k\geq 6$, the typical structure of graphs that do not contain an induced $2k$-cycle. This verifies a conjecture of Balogh and Butterfield. Surprisingly, the typical structure of such graphs is richer than that…

A graph is \emph{$(\mathcal{I}, \mathcal{F})$-partitionable} if its vertex set can be partitioned into two parts such that one part $\mathcal{I}$ is an independent set, and the other $\mathcal{F}$ induces a forest. A graph is…

We prove that a graph with a cut vertex whose deletion produces at least five connected components must be missing a connected partition of some type. We prove that this also holds if there are four connected components that each have at…

Let $G$ be a graph. A subset $D \subseteq V(G)$ is called a 1-isolating set of $G$ if $\Delta(G-N[D]) \leq 1$, that is, $G-N[D]$ consists of isolated edges and isolated vertices only. The $1$-isolation number of $G$, denoted by…

Given an undirected graph $G=(V,E)$ and vertices $s,t,w_1,w_2\in V$, we study finding whether there exists a simple path $P$ from $s$ to $t$ such that $w_1,w_2 \in P$. As a sub-problem, we study the question: given an undirected graph and…

A graph $G$ is $H$-induced-saturated if $G$ is $H$-free but deleting any edge or adding any edge creates an induced copy of $H$. There are non-trivial graphs $H$, such as $P_4$, for which no finite $H$-induced-saturated graph $G$ exists. We…
