We give the supergravity duals of commutative and noncommutative non-abelian gauge theories with N=2 in 2+1 dimensions. The moduli space on the Coulomb branch of these theories is studied using supergravity.

We briefly review the basics of electric-magnetic duality symmetry and their geometric interpretation in the M-theory context. Then we recall some no-go theorems that prevent a simple extension of the duality symmetry to non-Abelian gauge…

Motivated by the connection between 4-manifolds and 2d N=(0,2) theories, we study the dynamics of a fairly large class of 2d N=(0,2) gauge theories. We see that physics of such theories is very rich, much as the physics of 4d N=1 theories.…

We review some of the recent work on the dynamics of four dimensional, supersymmetric gauge theories. The kinematics are largely determined by holomorphy and the dynamics are governed by duality. The results shed light on the phases of…

This paper discusses the relationships between gauge theories defined by gauge groups with finite trivially-acting centers, and theories with restrictions on nonperturbative sectors, in two and four dimensions. In two dimensions, these…

A dual action is obtained for a general non-abelian and non-supersymmetric gauge theory at the classical level. The construction follows steps similar to those used in pure abelian gauge theory. As an example we study the spontaneously…

In string theory it is known that abelian isometries in the sigma model lead to target space duality. We generalize this duality to backgrounds with non--abelian isometries. The procedure we follow consists of gauging the isometries of the…

We construct a class of non-invertible duality defects, in (2+1)d quantum field theories, arising from half-spacetime gauging of a 2-group symmetry. Starting from a parent theory with two discrete and Abelian 0-form symmetries and a…

Recently N. Seiberg has shown that certain N=1 supersymmetric Yang -- Mills theories have the property that their infrared physics can be equivalently described by {\it two different} gauge theories, with the strong coupling region of one…

We present a brief review on the canonical transformation description of some duality symmetries in string and gauge theories. In particular, we consider abelian and non-abelian T-dualities in closed and open string theories as well as…

Duality symmetries of supergravity theories are powerful tools to restrict the number of possible actions, to link different dimensions and number of supersymmetries and might help to control quantisation. (Hodge-Dirac-)Dualisation of gauge…

We discuss how, by including gauge singlets in supersymmetric gauge theories, one can construct and test new types of duality. This may help in finding dual theories of supersymmetric GUTs. This talk is based on the recent article…

Abelian T-duality in Gauged Linear Sigma Models (GLSM) forms the basis of the physical understanding of Mirror Symmetry as presented by Hori and Vafa. We consider an alternative formulation of Abelian T-duality on GLSM's as a gauging of a…

We point out that the similarities in N = 1 supersymmetric SO, SP gauge theories can be explained by using the trick of extrapolating the groups to the negative dimensions. One of the advantages of this trick is that anomaly matching is…
