In this paper we investigate flows on discrete curves in $\C^2$, $\CP^1$, and $\C$. A novel interpretation of the one dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy and reductions thereof as flows on discrete curves will be given.

We extend a recent result of [13] for the KdV hierarchy to the Toda lattice hierarchy. Namely, for an arbitrary solution to the Toda lattice hierarchy, we define a pair of wave functions, and use them to give explicit formulae for the…

Flows on (or variations of) discrete curves in $\R^2$ give rise to flows on a subalgebra of functions on that curve. For a special choice of flows and a certain subalgebra this is described by the Toda lattice hierachy. In the paper it is…

Four integrable symplectic maps approximating two Hamiltonian flows from the relativistic Toda hierarchy are introduced. They are demostrated to belong to the same hierarchy and to examplify the general scheme for symplectic maps on groups…

Geometry of holomorphic curves from point of view of open Toda systems is discussed. Parametrization of curves related this way to non-exceptional simple Lie algebras is given. This gives rise to explicit formulas for minimal surfaces in…
