In this paper, we derive a general expression for mth powers of symmetric(0,1)-heptadiagonal matrices with n = 3k order,k = 1,2,3,...,n/3).
We show that a Hilbert space bounded linear operator has an $m$-isometric lifting for some integer $m\ge 1$ if and only if the norms of its powers grow polynomially. In analogy with unitary dilations of contractions, we prove that such…
We show that the asymptotic regularity of a graded family $(I_n)_{n \ge 0}$ of homogeneous ideals in a reduced standard graded algebra, i.e., the limit $\lim_{n \rightarrow \infty} \text{reg } I_n/n$, exists in several cases; for example,…
Given an ideal $I$ in a commutative ring $A$, a divided power structure on $I$ is a collection of maps $\{\gamma_n \colon I \to A\}_{n \in \mathbb{N}}$, subject to axioms that imply that it behaves like the family $\{x \mapsto…
Let $D$ be a weighted oriented graph with the underlying graph $G$ when vertices with non-trivial weights are sinks and $I(D), I(G) $ be the edge ideals corresponding to $D$ and $G,$ respectively. We give explicit description of the…
Let $A = \mathbb{F}_q[T]$, $\mathfrak{p} \subset A$ prime, $f(x) \in A[x]$ irreducible and set $R = A[x]/f(x)$. Denote its completion by $R_\mathfrak{p}$. The ideal class monoid $\text{ICM}(R_\mathfrak{p})$ is the set of fractional…
Ideals $I\subseteq R=k[\mathbb P^n]$ generated by powers of linear forms arise, via Macaulay duality, from sets of fat points $X\subseteq \mathbb P^n$. Properties of $R/I$ are connected to the geometry of the corresponding fat points. When…
For a set $E\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ that contains the origin we consider $I^m(E)$ -- the set of all $m^{\text{th}}$ degree Taylor approximations (at the origin) of $C^m$ functions on $\mathbb{R}^n$ that vanish on $E$. This set is a proper…
A monomial ideal $I\subseteq \mathbb{K}[x_1,\ldots , x_n]$ is called a Simis ideal if $I^{(s)}=I^s$ for all $s\geq 1$, where $I^{(s)}$ denotes the $s$-th symbolic power of $I$. Let $I$ be a support-2 monomial ideal such that its irreducible…
Let A be an associative complex algebra and L an invariant linear functional on it (trace). Let i be an involutive antiautomorphism of A such that L(i(a))=L(a) for any a in A. Then A admits a symmetric invariant bilinear form (a, b)=L(a…
The main aim of this paper is to characterize ideals I in the power series ring R=K[[x1,...,xs]] that are finitely determined up to contact equivalence by proving that this is the case if and only if I is an isolated complete intersection…
In this note we consider two configurations of twelve lines with nineteen triple points (i.e., points where three lines meet). Both of them have the same combinatorial features. In both configurations nine of twelve lines have five triple…
Let $G$ be a graph and $I=I(G)$ be its edge ideal. When $G$ is the clique sum of two different length odd cycles joined at single vertex then we give an explicit description of the symbolic powers of $I$ and compute the Waldschmidt…
Let $\Delta$ be a simplicial complex of a matroid $M$. In this paper, we explicitly compute the regularity of all the symbolic powers of a Stanley-Reisner ideal $I_\Delta$ in terms of combinatorial data of the matroid $M$. In order to do…
Our results concern minimal graded free resolutions of fat point ideals for points in a hyperplane. Suppose, for example, that I(m,d) is the ideal defining r given points of multiplicity m in the projective space P^d. Assume that the given…
Let (R, m) be a Cohen-Macaulay local ring and Q a parameter ideal of R. Suppose that an acyclic complex of length 3 which is an R-free resolution of an ideal I of R is given. In this paper, we describe a concrete procedure to get an acyclic…
Let $R=\mathbb{K}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ and let $\mathfrak{a}_1,\dots,\mathfrak{a}_m$ be homogeneous ideals satisfying certain properties, which include a description of the Noetherian symbolic Rees algebra. We give a solution to a question of…
For n=1,2,3,... let p_n be the n-th prime. We mainly show that p_n>n+sum_{k=1}^n p_k/k for all n>124, and sum_{k=1}^n kp_k<n^2p_n/3 for all n>30.
In this paper, we find a criterion to answer when the second symbolic and ordinary powers of the edge ideal of a 3-partite hypergraph are equal. Also, we give the formula to compute the Waldschmidt constant of the path ideals of a cycle.
We give criteria for graded ideals to have the property that all their powers are componentwise linear. Typical examples to which our criteria can be applied include the vertex cover ideals of certain finite graphs.
