Given a random walk on a free group, we study the random walks it induces on the group's quotients. We show that the spectrum of asymptotic entropies of the induced random walks has no isolated points, except perhaps its maximum.

Let (G,mu) be a discrete group equipped with a generating probability measure, and let Gamma be a finite index subgroup of G. A mu-random walk on G, starting from the identity, returns to Gamma with probability one. Let theta be the hitting…

The exponential growth rate of non polynomially growing subgroups of $GL_d$ is conjectured to admit a uniform lower bound. This is known for non-amenable subgroups, while for amenable subgroups it is known to imply the Lehmer conjecture…

This is the second of a series of two papers dealing with local limit theorems in relatively hyperbolic groups. In this second paper, we restrict our attention to non-spectrally degenerate random walks and we prove precise asymptotics of…

We study in this paper real-valued functions on the space of all sub-$\sigma$-algebras of a probability measure space, and introduce the notion of Kudo-continuity, which is an a priori strengthening of continuity with respect to strong…

In the eighties, A. Connes and E. J. Woods made a connection between hyperfinite von Neumann algebras and Poisson boundaries of time dependent random walks. The present paper explains this connection and gives a detailed proof of two…

The survival problem for a diffusing particle moving among random traps is considered. We introduce a simple argument to derive the quenched asymptotics of the survival probability from the Lifshitz tail effect for the associated operator.…

Motivated by the Asymptotic Equipartition Property and its recently discovered role in the cutoff phenomenon, we initiate the systematic study of varentropy on discrete groups. Our main result is an approximate tensorization inequality…

Maximization of the entropy rate is an important issue to design diffusion processes aiming at a well-mixed state. We demonstrate that it is possible to construct maximal-entropy random walks with only local information on the graph…

We consider the simple random walk on supercritical percolation clusters in the multidimensional cubic lattice. In this model, a quenched large deviation principle holds for the position of the random walk. Its rate function depends on the…
