We prove an inequality involving the degeneracy, the cutwidth and the sparsity of graphs. It implies a quadratic lower bound on the cutwidth in terms of the degeneracy for all graphs and an improvement of it for clique-free graphs.

The global clustering coefficient serves as a powerful metric for the structural analysis and comparison of complex networks. Random geometric graphs offer a realistic framework for representing the spatial constraints and geometry often…

Characterisations of interval graphs, comparability graphs, co-comparability graphs, permutation graphs, and split graphs in terms of linear orderings of the vertex set are presented. As an application, it is proved that interval graphs,…

An interval graph is proper iff it has a representation in which no interval contains another. Fred Roberts characterized the proper interval graphs as those containing no induced star $K_{1,3}$. Proskurowski and Telle have studied…

There is a long history of establishing central limit theorems for Markov chains. Quantitative bounds for chains with a spectral gap were proved by Mann and refined later. Recently, rates of convergence for the total variation distance were…

We define and study a natural category of graph limits. The objects are pairs $(\pi,\mu)$, where $\pi$ (the distribution of vertices) is an abstract probability measure on some abstract measurable space $(X,\mathcal{A})$ and $\mu$ (the…

A cocomparability graph is a graph whose complement admits a transitive orientation. An interval graph is the intersection graph of a family of intervals on the real line. In this paper we investigate the relationships between interval and…

Following a general program of studying limits of discrete structures, and motivated by the theory of limit objects of converge sequences of dense simple graphs, we study the limit of graph sequences such that every edge is labeled by an…

For any graph $G$ on $n$ vertices and for any {\em symmetric} subgraph $J$ of $K_{n,n}$, we construct an infinite sequence of graphs based on the pair $(G,J)$. The First graph in the sequence is $G$, then at each stage replacing every…

The theory of convergent graph sequences has been worked out in two extreme cases, dense graphs and bounded degree graphs. One can define convergence in terms of counting homomorphisms from fixed graphs into members of the sequence…

The Gromov-Wasserstein (GW) distance enables comparing metric measure spaces based solely on their internal structure, making it invariant to isomorphic transformations. This property is particularly useful for comparing datasets that…

We initiate the study of a new parameterization of graph problems. In a multiple interval representation of a graph, each vertex is associated to at least one interval of the real line, with an edge between two vertices if and only if an…
