For a complex variety with a torus action we propose a new method of computing Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson classes. The method does not apply resolution of singularities. It is based on Localization Theorem in equivariant cohomology.

Motivated by the Petrie conjecture, we consider the following questions: Let a circle act in a Hamiltonian fashion on a compact symplectic manifold $(M,\omega)$ which satisfies $H^{2i}(M;\R) = H^{2i}(\CP^n,\R)$ for all $i$. Is $H^j(M;\Z) =…

Rost defined the Chow group of algebraic cycles with coefficients in a locally constant torsion etale sheaf. We generalize the definition to allow non-torsion coefficients. Chow groups with twisted coefficients are related to Serre's notion…

This note is about certain locally complete families of Calabi-Yau varieties constructed by Cynk and Hulek, and certain varieties constructed by Schreieder. We prove that the cycle class map on the Chow ring of powers of these varieties…

Let X be a normal projective Q-Gorenstein variety with at worst log-terminal singularities. We prove a formula expressing the total stringy Chern class of a generic complete intersection in X via the total stringy Chern class of X. This…

To every abelian subvariety of a principally polarized abelian variety $(A, \mathcal{L})$ we canonically associate a numerical class in the N\'eron-Severi group of $A$. We prove that these classes are characterized by their intersection…

If $\mathcal{F}$ is a saturated fusion system on a finite $p$-group $S$, we define the Chern subring $Ch(\mathcal{F})$ of $\mathcal{F}$ to be the subring of the mod-$p$ cohomology $H^*(S)$ of $S$ generated by the Chern classes of…

We define the tautological ring as the subring of the Chow ring of a Shimura variety generated by all Chern classes of all automorphic bundles. We explain its structure for the special fiber of a good reduction of a Shimura variety of Hodge…

Semifields are semirings in which every nonzero element has a multiplicative inverse. A rough classification uses the characteristic of the semifield, that is the isomorphism type of the semifield generated by the two neutral elements. For…
