Diffraction studies at HERA are introduced, with reference to other communications to this Conference. Motivations and specific features of the experimental approaches are stressed.
Recent results from HERA are presented. The main reviewed subjects are polarized DIS cross sections, parton density determination, diffractive PDFs, multi-jet production and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model.
A few selected HERA results are presented and the prospects for future measurements with high luminosity are discussed, which will become available after the planned luminosity upgrade of the HERA storage ring planned for 2000.
