Manuscripts notes taken during the conference ECMDA 2008. I give the full conference program (title of the article and name of the person who introduced) detailing some of the presentations.
After giving a very brief introduction to the resolved photon processes, I will summarise the latest experimental information from HERA, on resolved photon contribution to large pt jet production as well as to direct photon production. I…
These are the proceedings of the 6th European Conference on Python in Science, EuroSciPy 2013, that was held in Brussels (21-25 August 2013).
We are on the way to obtaining multi-dimensional "pictures" of the proton. The field is bursting with activities, both from the theoretical and experimental side. A brief selection of important achievements of the last years and open…
This was a contribution to the lecture notes on the 44th IFF Spring School held at Forschungszentrum J\"ulich in 2013 on "Quantum Information Processing". The school as a whole had a strong focus on solid state systems. It was the purpose…
This report is a synthesis of my master thesis internship at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo, Japan, that lasted during the summer of year 2012. I worked in the Quantum Information Science Theory (QIST) group under…
A survey is presented of the various processes measurable at HERA in which two photons are involved. Their current experimental status and future prospects are discussed.
This document was prepared as part of the briefing material for the Workshop of the CERN Council Strategy Group, held in DESY Zeuthen from 2nd to 6th May 2006. It gives an overview of the physics issues and of the technological challenges…
This volume contains the proceedings of ICE 2014, the 7th Interaction and Concurrency Experience, which was held in Berlin, Germany on the 6th of June 2014 as a satellite event of DisCoTec 2014. The ICE procedure for paper selection allows…

A slightly extended version, with a footnote added on December 19, 1997, of a contributed Abstract to the Eight Marcel Grossmann Meeting, Jerusalem, June 1997.
Photoproduction of jets at HERA provides information on the partonic structure of the photon. We report on the latest dijet photoproduction results, for real photons and for photons at low virtualities, measured with the ZEUS detector.
This paper contains a transcript of my presentation at the Wyant Tribute Symposium on August 2, 2021 at SPIE's Optics & Photonics conference in San Diego, California. The technical part of the paper has no overlap with a previous article of…
Under certain running conditions, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) can be considered as a photon-photon collider. Indeed, in proton-proton, proton-ion, ion-ion collisions, when incoming particles pass very close to each other in very…

The authors of preprint arXiv:2009.00286 and paper Appl. Phys. Lett. 117, 130501 (2020), Y. Sivan and Y. Dubi, made several wrong and inconsistent comments on our papers [J. Phys. Chem. C 117, 16616-16631 (2013), ACS Photonics 4 (11),…
I discuss the parton distributions in the photon and the constraints coming from the jet production in photoproduction and in photon-photon collisions.
We discuss the absorber theory of radiation as put forward by Wheeler and Feynman. We show that it gives a better understanding of the photon compared to the usual quantum electrodynamics (QED) picture.
