We study the asymptotic behavior of a family of algebraic geometry codes which are 4-quasi transitive linear codes. We prove that this family is asymptotically good over many prime fields using towers of algebraic function fields.

We introduce in this article a new method to estimate the minimum distance of codes from algebraic surfaces. This lower bound is generic, i.e. can be applied to any surface, and turns out to be ``liftable'' under finite morphisms, paving…

In this paper, we will give an overview of known and new techniques on how one can obtain explicit equations for candidates of good towers of function fields. The techniques are founded in modular theory (both the classical modular theory…

We introduce two new types of towers of Drinfeld modular curves. These towers originate from a specific domain $\mathcal{A} $ and are analogous to the towers of rank-two Drinfeld modular curves over the polynomial ring. Specifically, the…

We consider a tower of function fields F=(F_n)_{n\geq 0} over a finite field F_q and a finite extension E/F_0 such that the sequence \mathcal{E):=(EF_n)_{n\goq 0} is a tower over the field F_q. Then we deal with the following: What can we…

Let us consider an algebraic function field defined over a finite Galois extension $K$ of a perfect field $k$. We give some conditions allowing the descent of the definition field of the algebraic function field from $K$ to $k$. We apply…

In this paper we investigate examples of good and optimal Drinfeld modular towers of function fields. Surprisingly, the optimality of these towers has not been investigated in full detail in the literature. We also give an algorithmic…

Rational conformal field theories produce a tower of finite-dimensional representations of surface mapping class groups, acting on the conformal blocks of the theory. We review this formalism. We show that many recent mathematical…

We give a general recipe for explicitly constructing asymptotically optimal towers of modular curves such as {X_0(l^n): n=1,2,3,...}. We illustrate the method by giving equations for eight towers with various geometric features. We conclude…

Tame geometry originated in mathematical logic and implements strong finiteness properties by defining the notion of tame sets and functions. In part I we argued that observables in a wide class of quantum field theories are tame functions…

Given a prime $p$, a number field $\K$ and a finite set of places $S$ of $\K$, let $\K_S$ be the maximal pro-$p$ extension of $\K$ unramified outside $S$. Using the Golod-Shafarevich criterion one can often show that $\K_S/\K$ is infinite.…
