Abstract

Let KK be a field finitely generated over the field of rational numbers, K(c)K(c) the extension of KK obtained by adjoining all roots of unity, LL an infinite Galois extension of KK, XX an abelian variety defined over KK. We prove that under certain conditions on XX and KK the existence of infinitely many L-rational points of finite order on XX implies that the intersection of LL and K(c)K(c) has infinite degree over KK.
