The Structure of $G/\Phi(G)$ in Terms of $\sigma(G)$

Abstract

Let GG be a finite group. We let \fm(G)\f{m}(G) and \sig(G)\sig(G) denote the number of maximal subgroups of GG and the least positive integer nn such that GG is written as the union of nn proper subgroups, respectively. In this paper we determine the structure of G/Φ(G)G/\Phi(G) when GG is a finite soluble group with \fm(G)2\sig(G)\f{m}(G)\leq 2\sig(G).
