The reciprocal complements of classes of integral domains

Commutative Algebra 2024-11-04 v1

Abstract

Given an integral domain DD with quotient field Q(D)\mathcal{Q}(D), the reciprocal complement of DD is the subring R(D)R(D) of Q(D)\mathcal{Q}(D) whose elements are all the sums 1d1++1dn\frac{1}{d_1}+\ldots+\frac{1}{d_n} for d1,,dnd_1, \ldots, d_n nonzero elements of DD. In this article we study problems related with prime ideals, localizations and Krull dimension of rings of the form R(D)R(D) and we describe the reciprocal complements of classes of domains, including semigroup algebras and D+m D+ \mathfrak{m} constructions. We also characterize when R(D)R(D) is a DVR.
