The Euler characteristic of a Hecke algebra

Abstract

It is shown that the Euler characteristic χ(H,B,ϵq)\chi_{(\mathcal{H},\mathcal{B},\epsilon_q)} of a Z[[q]]\mathbb{Z}[[q]]-Hecke algebra H\mathcal{H} associated with a finitely generated Coxeter group (W,S)(W,S) coincides with p(W,S)(q)1p_{(W,S)}(q)^{-1}, where p(W,S)(t)p_{(W,S)}(t) is the Poincar\'e series of (W,S)(W,S).
