The Equivalence Theorem and infrared divergences

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology 2009-10-28 v2 High Energy Physics - Theory

Abstract

We look at the Equivalence Theorem as a statement about the absence of polynomial infrared divergences when mW0m_W \rightarrow 0. We prove their absence in a truncated toy model and conjecture that, if they exist at all, they are due to couplings between light particles.
