The $C^*$--ISR Property for $\text{PSL}_n(\mathbb{Z})$

Abstract

A discrete group Γ\Gamma has the \emph{CC^*--ISR property} if every unital Γ\Gamma--invariant CC^*--subalgebra ACr(Γ)A\subseteq C_r^*(\Gamma) is of the form Cr(N)C_r^*(N) for a normal subgroup NΓN\triangleleft\Gamma. We show that PSLn(Z)\text{PSL}_n(\mathbb{Z}) satisfies the CC^*--ISR property for every n3n\geq3.
