Syzygies of Line Bundles on GIT Quotients

Abstract

Let kk be an algebraically closed field. Consider a reductive group GG over kk. Let XX be a projective variety over kk with a GG-action and let LL be a very ample GG-linearized line bundle on XX. Suppose that LL descends to the GIT quotient of XX by GG. If LL satisfies the property NpN_p one can ask if its descent also has NpN_p property. In this article, we show this is the case under certain conditions. We then apply our results to some cases of interest. As a consequence of our results, we show that if GG is a finite group and LL satisfies NpN_p property and its descent satisfies N0N_0 property then it satisfies NpN_p property as well under suitable conditions.
