Sum-Essential Graphs of Modules

Rings and Algebras 2019-08-19 v1 Combinatorics

Abstract

The sum-essential graph SR(M) \mathcal{S}_R(M) of a left RR-module MM is a graph whose vertices are all nontrivial submodules of MM and two distinct submodules are adjacent iff their sum is an essential submodule of MM. Properties of the graph SR(M)\mathcal{S}_R(M) and its subgraph PR(M)\mathcal{P}_R(M) induced by vertices which are not essential as submodules of MM are investigated. The interplay between module properties of MM and properties of those graphs is studied.
