Spaces With Complexity One

Abstract

An AA-cellular space is a space built from AA and its suspensions, analogously to the way that CWCW-complexes are built from S0S^0 and its suspensions. The AA-cellular approximation of a space XX is an AA-cellular space CWAXCW_{A}X which is closest to XX among all AA-cellular spaces. The AA-complexity of a space XX is an ordinal number that quantifies how difficult it is to build an AA-cellular approximation of XX. In this paper, we study spaces with low complexity. In particular we show that if AA is a sphere localized at a set of primes then the AA-complexity of each space XX is at most 1.
