Sound Wave in Vortex with Sink

General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology 2007-05-23 v2

Abstract

Using Komar's definition, we give expressions for the mass and angular momentum of a rotating acoustic black hole. We show that the mass and angular momentum so defined, obey the equilibrium version of the first law of Black Hole thermodynamics. We also show that when a phonon passes by a vortex with a sink, its trajectory is bent. The angle of bending of the sound wave to leading order is quadratic in A/cbA/cb and B/cbB/cb, where bb is the impact parameter and AA and BB are the parameters in the velocity of the fluid flow. The time delay in the propagation of sound wave which to first order depends only on B/c2B/c^2 and is independent of AA.
