Some classes of sequences of Linear Type

Commutative Algebra 2025-02-20 v3

Abstract

Given a graded ring AA and a homogeneous ideal II, the ideal is said to be of linear type if the Rees algebra of II is isomorphic to the symmetric algebra of II. In general, yy-regularity of Rees algebra of II is 00 \Rightarrow II is generated by a dd-sequence I\Rightarrow I is of linear type. We show that dd-sequence ideals represent a significantly smaller subset of ideals of linear type in terms of yy-regularity. Moreover, we identify a class of dd-sequences whose arbitrary powers generate ideals of Gr\"obner linear type. Notably, while dd-sequences are inherently weak dd-sequences, we highlight a specific class of algebras where weak dd-sequences are indeed dd-sequences.
