Single Channel Cutaneous Electrogastrography Parameters from Local White Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

Quantitative Methods 2014-12-09 v3

Abstract

EGG recordings performed on 13 local white rabbits (O. cuniculus) which divided into 3 groups; acetosal 35 mg/kgBM receiver, reserpine 37.5 mg/kgBM receiver, and control group. A total of 72 EGG recordings obtained from them, which divided furthermore into 9 datasets based on prepandrial state, postpandrial state, and post 1 hour drug administration state. EGG parameters such as the number of cycle per minute (cpmcpm), average voltage of action potential segment (Vaˉ\bar{V_a}), root mean square voltage of action potential segment (ArmsA_{rms}), root mean square voltage of all EGG segment (VrmsV_{rms}), average period of action potential segment (Taˉ\bar{T_a}), average period of resting plateau (Tiˉ\bar{T_i}), average period difference among action potential segment and resting plateau (TaTiˉ\bar{T_a - T_i}), and dominant frequency (fdf_d) are obtained. Insignificant difference of fdf_d (PP = 0.9112993) and cpm (PP = 0.9382463) among 9 EGG datasets were found. These findings contrasted the common practice of EGG assessment, which fdf_d and cpmcpm are the main parameters for diagnosis base. In other hand, significant difference between 9 EGG datasets found for Vaˉ\bar{V_a}, ArmsA_{rms}, and VrmsV_{rms} parameter with PP = 0.0007346, 0.0039191, and 0.0000559 respectively. In conclusion, EGG parameterization should not be limited to fdf_d and cpmcpm only.
