Regularization of Rational Group Actions

Abstract

We give a modern proof of the Regularization Theorem of Andr\'e Weil which says that for every rational action of an algebraic group GG on a variety XX there exist a variety YY with a regular action of GG and a GG-equivariant birational map XYX \to Y. Moreover, we show that a rational action of GG on an affine variety XX with the property that each gg from a dense subgroup of GG induces a regular automorphism of XX, is a regular action.
