Rectangular $C^1$-$P_k$ finite elements with $Q_k$-bubble enrichment

Abstract

We enrich the PkP_k polynomial space by 55 (k=4k=4), or 77 (k=5k=5), or 8 (all k6k\ge 6) QkQ_k bubble functions to obtain a family of C1C^1-PkP_k (k4k\ge 4) finite elements on rectangular meshes. We show the uni-solvency, the C1C^1-continuity and the quasi-optimal convergence. Numerical tests on the new C1C^1-PkP_k, k=4,5,6,7k=4,5,6,7 and 88, elements are performed.
