$R$-site Randomness Effect in Double-Perovskite $R$BaMn$_{2}$O$_{6}$

Strongly Correlated Electrons 2015-05-14 v1

Abstract

We have investigated the RR-site randomness effect of RR/Ba-ordered RRBaMn2_{2}O6_{6} (RR = rare earth) by using Y1y_{1-y}Lay_yBaMn2_2O6_6 (0 (\leq) yy (\leq) 1) in which RR (Y,La) and Ba are regularly arranged while Y and La randomly occupy the RR-site. YBaMn2_2O6_6 (yy = 0) undergoes charge/orbital ordering (CO) transition at TCOT_{\rm CO} = 500 K while LaBaMn2_{2}O6_{6} (yy = 1) shows ferromagnetic metallic (FM) behavior below 350 K\@. In 0 (\leq) yy (\leq) 0.6, TCOT_{\rm CO} decreases with an increase in yy. In 0.6 (\leq) yy (\leq) 0.8, RR-site randomness causes strong phase separation tendencies among the FM, antiferromagnetic (AFM), and CO insulating (COI) states. The large magnetoresistance is observed in the phase separated region.
