Abstract

A subsemigroup SS of an inverse semigroup QQ is a left I-order in QQ, if every element in QQ can be written as a1ba^{-1}b where a,bSa, b \in S and a1a^{-1} is the inverse of aa in the sense of inverse semigroup theory. We study a characterisation of semigroups which have a primitive inverse semigroup of left I-quotients.

Comments

The new version differs from that earlier uploaded in that (a) we have simplified the statement of Theorem 3.1 (by removing one condition that proved to be superfluous) and (b) we have streamlined the final two sections. In addition, we have made some further minor changes
