Poisson summation formulas involving the sum-of-squares function

Classical Analysis and ODEs 2021-10-25 v2 Functional Analysis Number Theory

Abstract

We obtain new Poisson type summation formulas with nodes ±n\pm \sqrt{n} and with weights involving the function rk(n)r_k(n) that gives the number of representations of a positive integer nn as the sum of kk squares. Our results extend summation formulas due to Guinand and Meyer that involve the sum-of-three-squares function r3(n)r_3(n).
