Photoelectric disintegration of 16O

Abstract

The photoelectric cross section of 16^{16}O(γ\gamma,α\alpha)12^{12}C is estimated to be larger than the radiative capture cross section of 12^{12}C(α\alpha ,γ\gamma)16^{16}O. The predicted cross section and the angular distribution of α\alpha-particle are illustrated for the future experiment. The cross section just above the α\alpha-particle threshold is found to be dominated by the EE2 excitation.
