Orientational Glass Transition

Abstract

The static behavior of orientational glasses is discussed in terms of a replica theory based on the infinite range random bond--random field model. A general version of the model applicable to dipolar and quadrupolar glasses is presented using a symmetry-adapted representation for the order parameter fields. Numerical results for the <100><100> quadrupolar glass are obtained and compared with the Ising and <111><111> orientational glass models.
