On the superconductivity of the Li$_{x}$RhB$_{y}$ compositions

Superconductivity 2015-05-12 v1

Abstract

We observed superconductivity (TcT_{c} \simeq2-3 K) in Lix_{x}RhBy_{y} intermetallics wherein xx and yy vary over a wide compositional range. The crystal structure consists of cubic unit-cell (aa \simeq 12.1 \AA ) with centro-symmetric space group Pn3ˉnPn\bar{3}n. A weak but positive pressure-induced increase of TcT_{c} was observed. The correlations between the composition and each of the followings were followed over a wide range of xx and yy: the unit-cell dimensions, TcT_{c} , Sommerfeld coefficient γ\gamma, Debye temperature θD\theta_{D}, and critical fields HHc1_{c1} and HHc2_{c2}. The thermal evolution of the electronic specific heat within the superconducting phase was observed to follow a quadratic-in-TT behavior. In addition, a paramagnetic Meissner Effect (PME) is manifested during a low-field-cooled magnetization cycle. This manifestation of quadratic-in-TT behavior and PME feature will be discussed.
