On the rank of $\pi_1(\mathrm{Symp}_0)$

Abstract

We show that for any positive integer kk there exists a closed symplectic 44-manifold (M,ω)(M,\omega), such that HdR1(M;R)H^1_\mathrm{dR}(M;\mathbb{R}) is a kk-dimensional real vector space and its Flux group is equal to HdR1(M1;Z)H^1_\mathrm{dR}(M_1;\mathbb{Z}).
