Abstract

A continuous map ff on a compact metric space XX induces in a natural way the map f~\tilde f on the hyperspace K(X)\mathcal K(X) of all closed non-empty subsets of XX. We study the question of transmission of chaos between ff and f~\tilde f. We deal with generic, generic ε\varepsilon-, dense and dense ε\varepsilon-chaos for interval maps. We prove that all four types of chaos transmit from ff to f~\tilde f, while the converse transmission from f~\tilde f to ff is true for generic, generic ε\varepsilon- and dense ε\varepsilon-chaos. Moreover, the transmission of dense ε\varepsilon- and generic ε\varepsilon-chaos from f~\tilde f to ff is true for maps on general compact metric spaces.
