On $\alpha$-embedded subsets of products

Abstract

We prove that every continuous function f:EYf:E\to Y depends on countably many coordinates, if EE is an (1,0)(\aleph_1,\aleph_0)-invariant pseudo-1\aleph_1-compact subspace of a product of topological spaces and YY is a space with a regular GδG_\delta-diagonal. Using this fact for any α<ω1\alpha<\omega_1 we construct an (α+1)(\alpha+1)-embedded subspace of a completely regular space which is not α\alpha-embedded.
