Abstract

In this paper, we consider a problem of Lang about finiteness of torsion points on plane rational curves over $\mathbb C$ , and prove some results towards a matrix analogue of this problem.

Unfortunately the proof of Theorem 1.7 in v.1 and v.2 contains a gap (see https://web.maths.unsw.edu.au/~alinaostafe/LangMatr-Erratum.pdf). This version removes this result but corrects its corollary (see Theorem 1.5 and Corollary 1.6 in v.3)
