Norming subspaces of Banach spaces

Abstract

We show that, if XX is a closed subspace of a Banach space EE and ZZ is a closed subspace of EE^* such that ZZ is norming for XX and XX is total over ZZ (as well as XX is norming for ZZ and ZZ is total over XX), then XX and the pre-annihilator of ZZ are complemented in EE whenever ZZ is ww^*-closed or XX is reflexive.
