Nonsplit module extensions over the one-sided inverse of k[x]

Rings and Algebras 2019-09-19 v1

Abstract

Let RR be the associative kk-algebra generated by two elements xx and yy with defining relation yx=1yx=1. A complete description of simple modules over RR is obtained by using the results of Irving and Gerritzen. We examine the short exact sequence 0UEV00\rightarrow U\rightarrow E \rightarrow V\rightarrow 0, where UU and VV are simple RR-modules. It shows that nonsplit extension only occurs when both UU and VV are one-dimensional, or, under certain condition, UU is infinite-dimensional and VV is one-dimensional.
