New examples of tunnel number subadditivity

Geometric Topology 2012-05-03 v2

Abstract

If the tunnel number of a link KK is denoted t(K)t(K), a pair of knots K1,K2K_1,K_2 is said to be subadditive if t(K_1)+t(K_2)>t(K_1 # K_2). We construct new examples of subadditive links.
