New Bounds For Frameproof Codes

Information Theory 2014-11-24 v1 Combinatorics math.IT

Abstract

Frameproof codes are used to fingerprint digital data. It can prevent copyrighted materials from unauthorized use. In this paper, we study upper and lower bounds for ww-frameproof codes of length NN over an alphabet of size qq. The upper bound is based on a combinatorial approach and the lower bound is based on a probabilistic construction. Both bounds can improve previous results when qq is small compared to ww, say cqwcq\leq w for some constant cqc\leq q. Furthermore, we pay special attention to binary frameproof codes. We show a binary ww-frameproof code of length NN can not have more than NN codewords if N<(w+12)N<\binom{w+1}{2}.
