$N^*$ Production from $e^+e^-$ Annihilations

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology 2018-01-31 v1 High Energy Physics - Experiment Nuclear Experiment Nuclear Theory

Abstract

Up to now, the NN^* production from e+ee^+e^- annihilations has been studied only around charmonium region. Charmonium decays to NN^*s are analogous to (time-like) EM form factors in that the charm quark annihilation provides a nearly pointlike (ggg) current. Complementary to other sources, such as πN\pi N, eNeN and γN\gamma N reactions, this new source for NN^* spectroscopy has a few advantages, such as an isospin filter and a low spin filter. The experimental results on NN^* from e+ee^+e^- annihilations and their phenomenological implications are reviewed. Possible new sources on NN^* production from e+ee^+e^- annihilations are discussed.
