Measurements of $\Omega^-$ Branching Fractions

High Energy Physics - Experiment 2018-08-08 v1

Abstract

Using e+ee^+e^- annihilation data taken at the CESR collider with the CLEO-c detector, measurements of two main Ω\Omega^- branching fractions have been made using the reaction ψ(2S)ΩΩ+\psi(2S)\to\Omega^-\overline{\Omega}^+, hyperon pair production at s=3.69\sqrt{s}=3.69~GeV, the peak of the ψ(2S)\psi(2S) resonance. Ω\Omega^- decay channels are identified through momentum distributions of charged particles, and systematics of the Ω\Omega^- branching fractions have been studied. The result gives: B(ΩΛ0K)=(68.9±9.5±4.3)%\mathcal{B}(\Omega^- \to \Lambda^0 K^-) = (68.9\pm9.5\pm4.3)\%, and B(ΩΞ0π)=(19.0±4.0±1.2)% \mathcal{B}(\Omega^- \to \Xi^0 \pi^-) = (19.0\pm4.0\pm1.2)\%.
